Music, life, and a new album by a new band
My 43rd birthday is just around the corner, and in many ways I feel I’m in a good place in life. Even though our house recently burned down and we’re now living in a rather small (and not very well insulated) home with four kids and a bunch of electric heaters running, we’re all doing well. The kids are in school every day—except when stomach aches keep the youngest at home—and we even got a new kitten from the same cat we had before the fire. A very lively little creature who already loves climbing the curtains.
This year I’ve focused a lot on releasing music. Often it has been with bands where I’m not the main artist, and most recently I even agreed to release an album I don’t play on myself: Underlake by Rasmus Kjær’s trio with Nicolas Masson and Noé Franklé, out October 31. My hope is to find more ways to share and sell all the wonderful music I put out on CD and LP. Streaming is nice, but unless you land on a playlist, it rarely generates much income.
October is mostly office work for me, but I’m also working with my wife Anne Efternøler on her band featuring trumpet and three double basses. We’re arranging concerts for May next year, hopefully during Copenhagen Jazz Festival in July as well, and maybe again in November. If you know of a good venue we should reach out to, please let me know!
The big news, though, is that OMRUM is about to release our debut album Bringer of Light on November 13! The first single, simply titled Bringer of Light, is already out, and you can listen here.
If you’d like to support us, you can even pre-order the LP or CD.
