First release on my new label!

New release from danish bass player Richard Andersson

Richard Andersson
Splitting up in Boston – Garzone/Bergonzi/Moses/Andersson
Hobby Horse Records 2015

Release date Oct. 30th 2015

In December 2012 Danish bass player, Richard Andersson, traveled to The States to meet up with a few of the most respected musicians of the jazz scene of Boston; Drummer Ra-Kalam Bob Moses and the two legendary saxophone players Jerry Bergonzi and George Garzone.
This short and intense meeting resulted in more than three hours of recording material in addition to a live recording at the legendary venue Lily Pad. It took almost three years before Richard Andersson was finished editing the many hours of improvised music. Now,that it is finally done, the first of two records from the intense weekend in Boston is ready for release on Richard Andersson’s new label, Hobby Horse Records.

December update from NYC

I’ve just arrived in DJBFA’s apartment, which is located at 19th street and 8th avenue on Manhattan, New York. Together with my friend, the saxophoneist Tomasz Licak, I’m going to listen to a lot of concerts and do a lot of sessions with my old friends from Manhattan School of Music.

Besides hanging around I’m also going to play a concert here in NYC, which at the same time is going to be recorded and maybe released at some point. The show in NYC is on December 11th at IBeam, Brooklyn at 9pm.
Lineup
Ralph Alessi trumpet
Herb Robertson trumpet
Tony Malaby saxophone
Nasheet Waits drums

In the last weekend of my stay I’m going to Boston to play and record with some of the most important figures on the jazz scene today.
Lineup
George Garzone saxophone
Jerry Bergonzi saxophone
Bob Moses drums

We are recording at Bob Moses place on the 15th and the day after, the 16th, we are playing a concert at the legendary Lily Pad, Boston, which has hosted The Fringe for over a decade. That concert is also going to be recorded, so I will have a lot of stuff to put out next year, but more about that later.

Hope everyone will have a great December!
